Brenda Sambrook, owner of Highgrove Kangaroo Valley and Kangaroo Valley Olives, is playing a key role in these initiatives as both a Shoalhaven Food Network member and organiser. Brenda has been instrumental in being part of the team launching the Network’s innovative “More Than Lunch” series, which began in March at her own Highgrove property.
This new culinary initiative runs monthly from March through November 2025, offering diners much more than a typical restaurant experience. Each event includes a specially created two-course lunch beginning with a welcome drink and will showcase iconic restaurants, wineries and food producers across the Shoalhaven, with events thoughtfully timed to highlight seasonal settings—from autumn vineyard lunches to cozy winter fireside gatherings.
Culinary Events Across the Region
The coming months will see a rich tapestry of food events throughout the Shoalhaven. Literary food enthusiasts can look forward to author events featuring notable writers sharing stories over carefully prepared meals. Cultural food experiences will include Egyptian cuisine celebrations offering traditional dips, breads, and dishes prepared according to family recipes passed down through generations.
For the adventurous, sustainability-focused dining experiences in Kangaroo Valley will explore the concept of ethical consumption of invasive species, turning environmental challenges into culinary opportunities. Meanwhile, themed dining events combining mystery, masquerade, and Italian cuisine will support community causes like the Safe Shelter in Nowra.

the Voice is a proud partner of the Shoalhaven Food Network and will bring monthly updates in support of the organisation and its members, helping to keep great food and exceptional hospitality talent in the region for both locals and visitors.
