Tennis Report

The weather is heating up and it’s the perfect time to dust off your racquet and get out and hire a court at our beautiful KV Tennis Club. There is always so much happening at our little club, and we welcome you to join us.

The club recently held its AGM and elected the 2024/25 committee. Congratulations and thank you to these hardworking, re-elected volunteers who spend countless hours ensuring we have the best facility possible: Peter Stanton (President), Michael Cox (Vice President), Janet Bundey (Secretary) and Rosemary Stanton (Treasurer).

It’s been a super busy month on court too with the start of the adult Spring night A and B grade competitions on Wednesday and Thursday nights and the mixed ages Tuesday night comp also commenced a new season. It’s been great to see some new faces in the adult competition this season and the standard is strong! Please remember that if you are in a team and unable to play one evening, please ensure you find a reserve player to take your spot in advance. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, please also inform your team captain. Good luck teams!

In junior news, our KVPS Todd Woodbridge Cup teams dominated their recent zone event with our 2 red ball teams (yrs 3 & 4) finishing 1st and 2nd and our orange ball team (yrs 5 & 6) also finishing 1st. 30 KVPS students travelled to Albion Park and played numerous teams from Shellharbour College over the day, winning every round. As we entered 2 red balls teams, they had to play each other and Team A defeated team B. Red ball Team A and our orange ball team will now progress to the regional playoffs in Ulladulla early in term 3. We wish them well!

We also had 3 of our KV junior players recently qualify and compete in the Regional Matchplay Series (RMS) Champion of Champions event in Ulladulla. Throughout the year, there are 13 RMS events across our south east region. Points are awarded based on results at these tournaments. Only the top 8 kids from the region are selected to participate in the Champion of Champions event. At this event, Bruno Castillo and Elijah Hole competed in the 10 and under boys and finished 4th and 6th respectively. Samson Hole competed in the 12 and under boys finishing 2nd. The top 3 placegetters qualify for the NSW champion of champions held in Nepean in November. Congratulations boys and good luck at state Samson!

Don’t forget that booking a court online or becoming a member is now so easy with our online system and coded padlocks. Check it out here: https://play.tennis.com.au/kangaroovalleytennisclub. We hope to see you at the courts soon!
