This season, we will enter two Under 6 teams, one Under 7 team, one Under 8 team, one Under 10 team and one Under 11 team. All teams have a head coach and will now have an addition of an assistant coach to help our children become better players.
The club has also appointed George Fallah as our Technical Director, where he will oversee and assist all coaches throughout the year. George will also introduce a Thursday night training session called Skills Squad, which will focus on technical skills for those players who would like to further improve their skills.
Over the summer, we held a Summer Skills program on Monday nights led by George. This proved successful, having 30+ children attend the weekly sessions. In addition, KVFC saw the introduction of an Adults Summer Soccer Competition where we formed six teams of all levels of skill and many new friendships were formed as a result. It was a great event that brought adults across the Valley together to enjoy each other’s company, developing new skills and being active.
Thanks to our sponsors
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors. We were able to purchase new equipment for our children, which will help them further improve their skills over the winter. Many of our sponsors donate without seeking recognition and are just happy to help. However, we would like to acknowledge them all as they are vital to our success.
Our incredible sponsors include: the Friendly Inn and the Friendly Inn Social Club, Raine & Horne Southern Highlands – Frank Barker, The Hive, NTC Services, Bishops, KFC Roofing, Shamrock, the Ballards, Kangaroo Valley Rural Supplies, South Coast Medical, Kangaroo Valley Pharmacy, Kangaroo Valley Kayaks, Norman Property Group, KV Fine Wines and Craft Ales, the KV Gym and Valley Vintage.
Fabulous assistance all round
We would also like to acknowledge the hard work that Jacqui Lenz, Brad Hawthorne, David Selby’s Earthmoving, Nathan and Toni Champion, and Bishops have put in over the past month, in particular, to get the oval back to a playable state so our children can get back to playing and training for the upcoming season. Without your support, we would not be in the position we are today. I hope you are all proud that you are contributing to a club that is making a difference to all levels of our wonderful community.
Through a joint effort between KVFC, the Friendly Inn Social Club and the KV Gym, we have purchased a defibrillator for the oval. This is now located under the awning on top of the hill looking out to the oval. Given the oval’s high usage throughout the year, we thought this was a vital piece of equipment that is accessible to the whole community. A big thank you to Mike and Kate for their help with this.
For the season ahead, our goal is that every child, new or old to the game, has an enjoyable season – making or cementing friendships and learning new skills. We wish for every child to return for subsequent seasons, staying competitive and playing with pride, knowing they are representing the Kangaroo Valley community.
Thank you to everyone for your support and … Go KVFC!
