Congratulations to Samson Hole, Claudia Moffat and Hedley Cochrane who narrowly won the Tuesday night mixed-age competition in a very competitive final against Stew Moffat, William Apps and Bekk Mcqueen.
The Thursday night, A Grade adult comp final will be contested this week with Team C (Lewis Keane, Cameron Liney, Stew Chappelow and Jane Gripper, who is subbing for Lucy Rodden) competing against Team E (Stefan Jarnason, Heidi Smart, Rob Bartrum and Marion Smart). It really is anyone’s game and anyone’s guess what will happen as these two teams have not yet played each other in this comp. Despite the draw showing them meeting on three occasions, they were all cancelled due to wet weather.
The B Grade final will also be interesting to see, as neither of the teams that led the competition have made it to the final. Team B, who went into the semis with the top score of the comp, were convincingly beaten by Team D (Lorain Ogle, Mike Morris, Amber Muffet and Marieke Carlisle). Team A (who were only 1 point behind Team B going into the semis) had a very close semi-final and won by just one game! However, they can’t field a full team for the final, thus they must forfeit, opening the door for Team E (Greg Thompson, Kath Hester, Deb Waltho and Paula Pulido) to contest the final. Good luck teams!
In junior tennis news, our Kangaroo Valley Public School tennis team had yet another convincing win against Illaroo Road, 8 sets to 0. They will now go on to compete against Goulburn East in the regional semifinal.
We also recently had 18 junior players, ranging from 5 to 10 years of age, go to the Bomaderry Tennis Club on the 25th of May to compete in the hotshots matchplay competition. For some of the kids, it was their very first tournament. The kids all had a fabulous time and improved their tennis skills.
We also just had three juniors attend the Tennis Australia South East Regional Matchplay Series (RMS) event in Ulladulla on Sunday the 16th of June. Samson Hole was runner-up in the 12 boys singles, Bruno Castillo was 3rd in the 10 boys singles and Elijah Hole was 5th in the 10 boys singles. Congratulations, competitors!
Hope to see you at the courts soon!
