Then the rain came, on Saturday the 11th of May the course was closed. The sun did come out for a short time, allowing the course to reopen, with many of the fairways still very wet, making a round of golf very difficult for all. Saturday the 18th of May was a Stableford round – congratulations to Gordon Thomson, winning with a great round with 40 points, followed by Ian Thomas with 37 points and Charles Tarbey with 35 points. Our stroke and Monthly Medal round on Saturday the 25th of May – congratulations to George Tarbey winning with a round of 73, followed by Stephen Atkins with 75 beating Michael Ryan on a count back. On Saturday the 8th of June, the long weekend and our annual John Rose Memorial competition – with the weather closing in, we had to cancel the event, as the course was closed again over the long weekend due to the continuous rain. On Saturday the 15th of June, our Par round, with the course still very heavy and water across some fairways, a small group of members hit the course in very light rain, but a great number of visitors were playing; even the kangaroos were trying to keep dry on the 12th hole. Congratulations to Ronnie Touma, winning with +4, followed by Michael Kinlan, a visitor from Eastlakes GC, beating another visitor, Dragan Durdevic from Long Reef GC, on a count back.
Happy golfing everyone!!!!!! Stay safe and until next time ………
