Women’s bowls
Well, believe it or not, there is still no ladies bowls to report on! The weather has not been kind to us so far this year. Of course, this will mean that, after a very relaxed beginning, we will be bowling every chance we have to fit all of the required competitions in before the end of June 2024. I look forward to reporting on what I am sure will be some very exciting matches.
Until then, happy bowling!

Men’s bowls
The big news at the Berry Men’s Bowling Club is that Geoff (‘Tige’) Lidbetter has stepped up to fill the recently vacated President’s position. Congratulations Tige on becoming President, a role in which everyone is confident you will excel.
The Club Fours Championship was held at the end of November 2023. With only three teams competing only two games were necessary. In the first match Darryl Goodger, Bob Dunn, Mark Power and David Badger were victorious over Wade Eaton, ‘Skippy’ Chittick, Tige Lidbetter and Nathan Bezant, with a score of 24 points to 17. The Final was a much more one-sided affair with Darryl, Bob, Mark and David easily accounting for Keith Pepper, Col Agar, Lindsay McNamara and Jim Abbott by a score of 25 points to 8. Congratulations to Darryl Goodger, Bob Dunn, Mark Power and David Badger on becoming the 2023 Club Fours Champions.

Upcoming events
The Pennant season commences on 10 February 2024. The Berry Bowling Club will be represented in grades three and six, and we are hoping to improve on last year’s results. I will keep you informed of our progress.
Some of us are also looking forward to competing in a pairs and fours tournament in Fiji from 23 to 30 May 2024. Tige Lidbetter, a frequent traveller to Fiji, is co-ordinating the Berry contingent, and we are looking forward to what promises to be a great experience and good fun.
In the December edition of The Voice I reported on the strong showing by Berry bowlers at the Robertson Potato Triples Tournament. The accompanying photo was accidentally cropped, removing two and a half of the players. I have resubmitted the photo in this edition.
