Dear Paige:

About two and a half years ago, myself and some men in “the Valley” agreed that it would be great to have а Men’s Shed like the ones that exist in most towns.

We flagged the idea on the KV Community Facebook and held an inaugural barbeque on the Showground.  Excited with the idea, twenty-five blokes turned up. A committee was formed with the basic plan to procure a shed.

Initially, we investigated the possibility of acquiring a building, a shed on the showground. But the problems surrounding this project were insurmountable and we were forced to look further afield.

After two years of searching, lobbying, inspections and numerous meetings with Council a group of our men have finally found a very suitable block of land on Moss Vale Road, across from Cullen Crescent and next to Stop & Taste and the Petrol Station. This block belongs to Council and certain protocols are underway to secure the land.

The main idea behind a Men’s Shed is to provide a venue and activities for men leading to improved mental health, especially for men who are retired.

I and the people of the Valley congratulate this group for their tireless efforts so far

and sincerely hope that a Kangaroo Valley Men’s Shed will be a reality in the near future.

Sincerely,

Bob Dunn
