To all the people who contributed to Soirée avec Divertimento, the French-themed supper and movie fundraiser for Arts in the Valley,
I am writing to thank the many, many members of our community for contributing in one way or another to help Arts in the Valley continue to bring the best quality music, sculpture and visual arts we can to the community.
We all know how expensive it is to put on top-quality musical performances, to stage sculpture exhibitions and to host visual arts festivals. Tickets and other sales barely cover costs. As a not-for-profit registered association, we need and greatly appreciate the support of members of the community who contribute their time as volunteers and who contribute financially where they can.
Soirée was a great success. Over 80 people gathered in the Hall, supped on superb French cuisine prepared by members of the committee and friends, imbibed just a bit from excellent French wines, watched an inspirational film about two young music makers struggling against many odds to forge professional careers, bid and outbid on silent auction items and generally had a great party, while raising well over $5,000 in support for arts in our valley.
I would like to thank Wendy & Greg See for producing the idea, Potential Films, Fitzroy for providing Divertimento, Stuart McCreary our projectionist, Matt Southworth for hanging the Salon des refuse, our MC Peter (Wilko) Wilkins, and the wonderful catering team lead by Wendy See, Helen Lunn, Kerri Carlton, July Law, Elizabeth Clark and their friends from inside and outside the Valley.
I would also like to thank the following for their kind donations to the Silent Auction: Franquette Creperie, Bowral, Farmgate Restaurant, Nowra, Rex Irwin, Kate & Nick Honeywell, Kerri Carlton, Barbara & Gerard Volk, Stuart McCreery, Tanya & Matt Southworth, Maria Visotina, Mark Foster, Elizabeth Clark, David Collins, Chris & Marilyn Green and the good offices of the following who arranged donations: Wendy & Greg See, Helen Lunn and Nikki Sharp, and on the night a totally unexpected donation from none other than Wilko.
And finally I would like to thank the following for their successful bids on items: Sally Smith, Jillian Morrow, Bridget Crouch, Mary Moran, David Sanders & Cathryn Ferguson, Chris Nobel, Gerard & Barbara Volk, Evan Cole, Cathy Hooten, Alyson Galea, Ian Wheeler, Anne Carr, Helen Lunn and other members of the committee.
You gotta love this community!
Warm regards,
Gary Moore, President
