The Kangaroo Valley Football Club has experienced a remarkable season so far, marked by significant growth and achievement both on and off the pitch. Each of the teams’ performances have been stellar, with a strong start that saw many of them experiencing their first wins and tough losses.
It is important to know that for many of our young players, this is the first time they find themselves in a team environment. It has been incredible to see each team grow so much over the course of just one month.
Training Sessions
Training sessions have been integral to KVFC’s success. Under the guidance of each of the head coaches, each team has focused on improving technical skills, fitness and strategic understanding of the game. These sessions also emphasise social skills and teamwork, fostering a supportive and cohesive environment. Players participate in team-building activities that enhance their communication and collaboration, essential components of their on-field success.
Soccer Clinic
During the recent school holidays, the Club held its first Soccer Clinic at Osborne Park. Led by experienced “A” level licensed coaches George Fallah and Ron Gisbourne, the Soccer Clinic was a huge success, teaching new techniques like passing, dribbling, kicking for goal and, of course, defensive skills. Goalkeeping was made possible by Ron and the support of coaches Aaron Cooke, Jason Shepherd, Sally Vidler and Club President, Dean Mackechnie. Participants enjoyed fun games and team-building exercises, which had the children smiling throughout the day.
The event concluded with a delightful sausage sizzle for all the kids and coaches, as well as Participation Awards for all the players. A big thank you to the organisers for providing this free and enriching experience for everyone involved with the Club.
Wet Weather
In recent weeks, the Valley has been bombarded with rain which has forced the Club to cancel games and training sessions. With our home ground, Osbourne Park, looking more like a mud bowl recently, KVFC players have had a week off. It definitely made the players hungry for their return home game on Saturday the 18th, where the ground was once again filled with teams, supporters and cheers. Huge thanks to Brad Hawthorne, Jacqui Lenz and the Osbourne Park Committee for their work on prepping and maintaining the pitch for our Club.
Home Games at Osborne Park
Be sure to come down on a Saturday morning from 9:30 am to watch the young stars of Kangaroo Valley Football Club. Bring a beanie and camp chair and catch the following rounds at Osborne Park during the month of June:
1st June 2024
15th June 2024
22nd June 2024
Off the field, the club continues to cultivate a strong community spirit. This community support has been a crucial element of KVFC’s existence and again, thank you to the long list of sponsors.
We hope to see you at the game!
GO KVFC!
