  1. Tell us what your group does in 25 words or less.

The Friends support the Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby’s recovery in Kangaroo Valley by building community support, educating current and future generations, raising public awareness, and advocating for conservation. We collaborate closely with NPWS and other groups to foster biodiversity and raise funds through memberships, donations, merchandise, and adoption sales to support these efforts.

  1. Is there a particular project or achievement your group is particularly proud of?

We have recently completed the much-enjoyed Endangered Species Trail around KV township and are now gearing up for our next big project in time for the Friends’ 30th anniversary in 2025! Stay tuned!

We’re very proud of all our achievements, which members can hear about through our newsletters!

  1. What’s something readers would be surprised to learn about your group?

The Friends are diverse group of people who are all passionate about our vision and work tirelessly to achieve it: a future where Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies thrive in the wild in a biodiverse Australia.

  1. For people who want to join, what skills and/or time commitment do you need to be part of the group?

Our main focus is raising funds and educating the public, and we need volunteers with skills and time to do this! Whether you can commit a little or a lot, every bit helps. So if you’re interested in helping us save these furry friends, please talk to any committee member or give us a bell at paige@rockwallaby.org.au.

  1. In your experience, what do you gain from being a member that makes it so personally rewarding?

At the Friends, it’s all about working with like-minded people to make a real difference. And of course having fun!
