On 27th June we had an excursion to see Healthy Harold in the Life Education Van. We walked up to the big school and climbed into Harold’s caravan, where we learned about recognizing feelings and how to deal with big feelings. This complemented learning we have been engaging in at preschool. We heard a story about Harold’s first day at a new school. The children were very clever describing how Harold felt in each section of the story. We worked as a team building cup towers – and we had to deal with disappointment when the towers fell down – which they did. Cup towers are tricky!
The next big event was a visit from the dentist! Prasha told us all about keeping our teeth healthy – she was impressed with what the children already knew. Then some of the children had a check up. The children also helped clean Prasha’s dragon’s teeth – his teeth sparkled!
On 2nd July Bailey from “Wow Reptile Encounters” brought lots of interesting animals to preschool for us to meet. Kermit the tree frog, Stanley the Blue Tongue, Shelley the Shingleback, Lemon the Bearded Dragon, Ducky the monitor as well as Cuddles and Fluffy the pythons! We were allowed to touch them gently to see how they felt. Bailey explained that these animals are used to people, so it was ok to touch them. He said that it was not ok to touch wild animals. We did enjoy our encounter with these friendly reptiles!
