The Preschool Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 18 March and the committee for 2024 was selected. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who take on these vital roles.

The executive committee for 2024 are: President – Tuneil Mackechnie, Vice President – Jennifer Williams, Treasurer – Taisha Wilson, Secretary – Tori Doyle and committee members Brad Hawthorne, Andrew Hanson, Taneka Phipps and Seungyoung Park.

Tuneil organized a ‘Paint and Sip’ social event which was held after the meeting. It was a great opportunity for people to get to know each other and have some fun together. It’s not only the children who get to play with paint at preschool! Thanks, Tuneil.

The Kangaroo Valley Show has been a hot topic for conversation here at the preschool. Every year we make a book about it. The children are asked to tell us about what they did at the Show and we write down their words. They are also asked to draw a picture about the Show. Each story and drawing are added to a page, along with photographs. Each child has their own page in the book.

The big items of interest this year included the Tea Cup Ride, The Ducky Game, animals, food, meeting friends and the Rodeo.

“I see a sheep. I dress up as a chicken. I went on a teapot. I saw the cow and a rabbit. I go on the duck one and I got a crown.” [Bonnie]

“I see the bulls. Bull came out of the big cupboard. I see that.” [Ollie]

“I see a big pumpkin. I see the chickens. They went ‘Bok! Bok Bok!’ The big one went ‘Cock-a-doodle Doo!’ I went in a flying car and it went round and round and round.” [Jasper]

“I goed on the bumper cars and the spinning cups. I had a go on the ducky game and I got a pink mermaid. I had some twirly chippies and some white ice cream with rainbow sprinkles on it.” [Molly]

“I saw the bull. I get ice cream. I played with Eva, Jacky Boy and Aleera. I got a cute puppy toy. I did games too. I did the ducky catching.” [Paige]

The Show is a great source of excitement, as well as a tool for language and literacy learning. Big thanks to all the organisers who put so much work to bring this fantastic event to the Valley each year.
