New Director

Kangaroo Valley Preschool is pleased to announce we have appointed Gemma Corner to the position of Early Childhood Director and Nominated Supervisor.

We were delighted by Gemma’s warmth and obvious passion for her job. She loves preschoolers for their ability to: “Just be … no pretences, no fluff!” She has a particular interest in the ‘why’ behind preschool play, taking a research-based approach to planning learning experiences for children.

Gemma is passionate about creating environments that are appealing and fun for children. She adapts her teaching in response to children’s own interests to ensure their engagement in learning. Gemma thrives on building respectful relationships with her colleagues, children’s families and the kids themselves. In the preschool, you’ll usually find her down on the floor with the kids. “Every child I’ve ever taught has taught me something,” she said. “It’s such a meaningful relationship.”

Gemma comes to us from Cullunghutti Preschool in Nowra, where she has been the Director, Early Childhood Teacher and Education Leader. She has nearly a decade of experience in early childhood education in both NSW and the ACT and holds a Bachelor of Education (0–5 years). She knows the Early Years Learning Framework and ACECQA National Quality Framework inside and out, with a strong understanding of all the policies and regulations wrapped up in running a preschool.

We look forward to welcoming Gemma to Kangaroo Valley Preschool. She begins on 31 March.

Please stay tuned for details of how we’ll farewell Jacinta and thank her for her many years of service to this community.

Annual General Meeting

The preschool Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 17 March.

We would like to thank the volunteers who make up our management committee for 2025.

President: Tuneil Mackechnie. Vice President: Jennifer Williams. Treasurer: Taisha Wilson. Secretary: Megan Willey. Public Officer: Brad Hawthorne. Committee members: Seungyoung Park, Lisa Grant, Angie Sceats, Abigail Bradburn and Brad Hawthorne.

After the meeting the group enjoyed a ‘Sip and Paint’ experience, led by Tuneil. The subject for painting was a protea flower – each painting depicting the design with a unique style. It was a great opportunity to get to know each other while being creative. Thanks Tuneil!
