Turtle nesting season is starting, so watch for turtles on the road. Eastern long-necked turtles nest predominantly in November and December. The females may walk considerable distances from water, males move to find a mate, and they move between water bodies.
If the road is hot they sometimes retreat into their shell and look just like a rock on the road.
If you find a turtle on the road, move it to the side it was heading towards. They know where they are going and are territorial, so may not survive if moved to another area.
