Debating News
In Term 2, our two debating teams travelled to Exeter to compete in the Premier’s Debating Challenge. This was their first ever official debate and there was a mix of nervousness and excitement. The Kangaroos (Elsie, Madelin, Wilson and Harry) debated the Exeter Reds. The topic was “That all school children should learn a musical instrument from Kindergarten to Year 12.” They were the negative team and unfortunately were out-debated by the Reds. The Wombats (Milton, Albie, Izzi and Adelie) debated the Blues on the topic “That primary schools should have a three day weekend.” They were also the negative team, and presented a strong case and won the debate.
Sending Postcards in 4/5/6
Thank you Katrina and Australia Post for providing us with free postcards to send. Our 4/5/6 class sent postcards to their guide Damo, who hosted us at our camp at ‘The Tops.’ It was a great opportunity to reflect on their experiences and lessons learnt about teamwork and positive affirmations which helped us all get through some BIG challenges!
Multicultural Public Speaking Competition
Throughout Term 2, All students in Years 3-6 prepared and delivered speeches to participate in the Multicultural Public School Competition. Students wrote really thought provoking speeches on the topics of peace, the Olympic Games, culture and conflict. Claudia, Ruby, Sam and Elsie were selected at our school level to represent KVPS at the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition final, held at Moss Vale PS.
1/2D Letter Writing
Our Year 1 and 2 students worked hard on writing each other letters and enjoyed receiving one from their classmate!
Year 6 Fundraiser
Our Year 6 students ran a school ‘Op Shop’ to raise funds to purchase a gift for the school at the end of the year. Thank you to Elsie for leading the Year 6 fundraiser! There were lots of great donations so thank you to everyone who contributed. We had lots of happy customers who made some great purchases.
Water NSW Visit
At the end of Term 2, our K-2 classes had a visit from Water NSW to learn all about the water cycle, the importance of access to clean safe water and how we use and care for water.
Healthy Harold
Many of us probably have fond memories of visiting Healthy Harold as a child to learn about keeping our bodies healthy and about being safe. We were pleased to have Harold return to KVPS this year offering a wonderful program for all students from Preschool to Year 6. Thank you to the RFS at West Nowra who transport Harold to each of our local schools safely!
Gadhunghal Marring
In our final session working with Gadhunghal Marring, all students from K-6 contributed to making an artwork.
Bundanon Visit
Our K/1 class was the final group of students to experience a fabulous day of creativity at Bundanon! Thank you to Kat, Penny and the team at Bundanon for transporting and hosting our students for the day to learn all about appreciating the artworks of others and creating our own artworks in the most beautiful setting!
On the day of our K/1 Visit to Bundanon, I became aware that the wonderful experience that has been offered to each of our four classes throughout 2024 was made possible free of charge, thanks to a very generous person who donated funds to Bundanon to support local school groups to visit. Thank you to the wonderful community member who wishes to remain anonymous, for providing the funding so that every one of our 82 students got to experience this wonderful opportunity free of charge without having to pay for transport or for the workshops at Bundanon.
Kangaroo Valley Public School’s 2024 Olympic Games
We’re still buzzing with excitement from the incredible day when we hosted our very own 2024 Olympic Games! The showground was transformed into a vibrant arena of fun, competition, and school spirit. From thrilling track and creative relay challenges to weight lifting, breaking, artistic swimming, sofcrosse, golf, hobby horse equestrian and T-Ball, our students showcased their talents and sportsmanship in a series of mini-events!
A big thank you to parents and community members who came out to cheer on our amazing athletes and be part of the excitement. A special thank you to Mrs Robinson for organising the day and to Mike and DJ Tino for volunteering with their expert knowledge and skill!
It was a great day of celebrating our future champions and the wonderful memories made!
Thank you to all of our parents and community members for their support of our school.
