K-2 Public Speaking Competition
We were pleased for our students to be involved in the K-2 Public Speaking competition at Cambewarra Public School. Each school was able to enter one student for each grade K-2 to compete against students from other schools.
Todd Woodbridge Cup State Finalists
Kangaroo Valley Public School competed at Sydney Olympic Park in the State Finals of the Todd Woodbridge Cup on Monday 18th November. Our team comprised of ten Year 3 and 4 students who worked incredibly hard training in the lead up to the event. They played well on the day, finishing on top after all the rounds. KVPS are the very proud winners of the Todd Woodbridge Cup for 2024!
Well done everyone and thank you to Kate, Jan, Mrs Robinson and parents for their support throughout each stage of the competition. I would particularly like to thank the community members and organisations who contributed financially towards helping our students with accommodation costs.
Remembrance Day
Our Year 5 and 6 students attended the Remembrance Day service at the Kangaroo Valley Cenotaph this year. Our younger students engaged in learning about the meaning of remembrance day and created artworks to depict their learning.
Congratulations Mrs Barton!
This year marks a very special career milestone for Mrs Margaret Barton who entered the Department of Education in 1974, just over 50 years ago.
Margaret has seen incredible changes throughout her career with equipment changing from typewriters to computers and so much more.
Margaret often shares fond memories of working with many different principals who have come and gone throughout her time at Kangaroo Valley PS.
Margaret has a passion for the history of the school and with so many stories to tell, she could certainly write a novel or two!
Margaret often reflects on special moments in her career, such as seeing three generations of Kangaroo Valley Public School students commence their educational journey, enrolling while Margaret has held her position as School Administration Manager.
Margaret also enjoys seeing ex-pupils return to Kangaroo Valley Public School in their various vocations, sharing memories of their time at school.
Congratulations Margaret and thank you for all your hard work and support to our many students, parents, staff, principals and community who have entered the KVPS administration building over the years.
Later this month, Margaret will be attending a special Service Recognition Dinner. This event celebrates the commitment of staff who have reached a milestone of 50 years or more working for NSW Public Education. It’s a moment to formally recognise the Department of Education’s longest serving school staff, acknowledging the important work they do.
The event is a dinner celebration, held in The Strangers Room at the Parliament of NSW. The Secretary of the NSW Department of Education, Mr Murat Dizdar, the Deputy Premier the Hon Prue Car MP and the Premier of NSW, the Hon Mr Chris Minns MP will be attending, along with Department of Education dignitaries and affiliated organisations.
Thank you for the wonderful support from the community throughout the year. We are all looking forward to the upcoming holiday break and seeing everyone back in 2025 with all students K-6 returning on Thursday 6th February.
Kind Regards,
Jen Arnott
