In December we saw two students from the school awarded the Lions Scholarship. Congratulations to Darcey Burden and Charlotte Furhagen, who have achieved great success in primary school and will no doubt take their abilities a lot further. Well done!
Our Christmas Eve raffle at the hotel was washed out, but all was not lost with a rescheduling for New Years Eve. On offer were two prizes of goodies as can be seen in the photo here. Many thanks to our loyal supporters, and the winners were Githa and Geoff Good. Hats off to them for their generosity in allowing others to share in their winnings. With your support we can continue to deliver for our local community.
There are limited Christmas Cakes still available, so if you want to grab one for the pantry please let me know before they are all gone.
Save the date of 27 February, as this is our Annual Swim Cup. Get your team together and start training for a fun night out. We look forward to seeing you there.
In mid-February the Show returns, and your local club has sponsored the photography in both Junior and Open sections. The theme that we are sponsoring is Volunteers in Action.
Don’t forget to send the stamps from all your Christmas cards to the club, as we pass them on and raise funds for The Children’s Mobility Foundation. They have a motto of ‘Helping Children Walk with Pride’. This is a worthy cause, and it is amazing what difference this makes to a child’s life.
A call out to all the table tennis fans in the valley. We currently run this on Wednesday afternoons and the numbers are a little low. For us to continue to cover costs we need to have about six or seven players each week. That number now is closer to four or five. It costs only $5 a week and even if you haven’t played before it should be a lot of fun.
