Your club is extremely proud of Lorraine Mairinger for her recent OAM award. It is no secret that Lorraine is a hard worker for her community through Lions, but that is only part of the story. Lorraine is involved in the local Lions Club, Rural Fire Service, Osborne Park Committee, Anzac Committee, and the local A&H. There are others but I am sure that you get the idea.
Lorraine is committed to community services and makes many sacrifices at her personal expense to improve the life of others. As a retired nurse Lorraine is often called upon to provide care and assistance to others in the community. This service is often delivered unbeknown to others and performed without any fuss and often goes unrecognised.
Lorraine is known as the go-to person should a job need to be done, and her experience and guidance of others is instrumental in her success and much loved status. Lorraine’ achievements as cited in the announcement are impressive but, in a recent interview, she humbly acknowledged the many around her who supported her in serving the community. This just highlights how much of a team player she really is. We have included a couple of snaps of Lorraine in action.
Your local club has just donated #1000 to the Lions Recycle for Sight Program. This is one of the most successful activities for Lions Clubs. Worldwide already close to 19 million pair of spectacles have been refurbished by the program in Australia. Since 1998 the Lions Clubs of Australia have been successfully restoring sight to many millions of persons in need in Australia and adjacent countries. Your local club is an active participant in this program and is always willing to collect your unused spectacles. Please leave them in the containers that can be found at the Medical Centre and other outlets around town.
The annual KV Swim Cup was held again on 27 February. It is a credit to Alison Baker and her team who put their heart and soul into the event. We hope that you all had a good night and that the weather was kind to you. Photos next month.
Just a reminder that the club still has a limited supply of the Emergency Booklet, so please reach out to Lorraine before they are all gone. Thank You for the support that this community provides to Lions. We could not do this without you.
