On another beautiful winter’s morning, a small band of gardeners lived life to the full by harvesting the incredibly prolific turmeric, thinning out the vigorous strawberry plants and weeding around the citrus trees. Plentiful lemons continue to provide great entertainment for youthful games, such as lemon hurling onto the roof of the enclosed garden. We do our best to retrieve these lemons but, sadly, most are lost.

Most brassicas are doing well, and the photo attests to the quality of the cauliflowers. Our first planting of broccoli did not end well; these were quickly replaced by new seedlings. Parsley is threatening to overtake the herb gardens – parsley soup, anyone?

Three beds of garlic were planted and took off with amazing alacrity. Sweet potato beds are flourishing in leafy splendour, while winter lettuces thrive. There are always some good leafy vegetables available, namely silver beet, rainbow chard and Tuscan kale.

The morning teas are becoming gourmet feasts, thanks to the hard work of our early-rising committee members.

Please enjoy our recent photos.
