Thankfully the dry hot summer predicted never eventuated and the rain we have received has been great for the community garden

At FIG we have been having great success with our zucchinis, eggplants, silver beet, salad greens, beetroot and onions and, after a slow start, tomatoes and basil.

While our  herbs have been a bit slow, our carrots have not done well, being too woody. We have put this down to the inconsistency of temperatures, but are enjoying an abundance of figs

At the end of last year we were extremely pleased to receive a donation from the Friendly Inn Social Club of a self-propelled mower, which has made the job of mowing the community garden much easier. This then led to the realisation of a new shed  to provide a home for the new acquisition

A huge thank you to Dave Djokic for the donation of the  concrete for the concrete slab, as well as Adam Tildsley and Joey Thomas for giving up one of their Saturdays to provide us with the slab and the erection of the new shed.

We are always humbled by the ongoing support we receive from the community in making our garden the success that it is

Our garden is maintained by volunteers in the form of a working bee each Thursday morning, and we are always looking for new faces to help carry the load and learn and share some knowledge on growing vegetables

On Thursday 16 February we were host to the KV crop and swap, exchanging produce conversation, home -baked goodies and tea and coffee, with added guest Shark Island films joining us to capture the moment for a documentary of life in Kangaroo Valley

Thank you once again for the constant support this community provides for the success of our garden. We would love to see you at one of our working bees on a Thursday morning.
